“Like life, basketball is messy and unpredictable. It has its way with you, no matter how hard you try to control it. The trick is to experience each moment with a clear mind and open heart. When you do that, the game - and life - will take care of itself.”

Philosophy and Vision
At Chesapeake High School, we will use education and basketball as a tool to develop student-athletes into responsible young adults. Our program is dedicated to fulfilling its obligation by providing role models and guidance to foster the following qualities in our student-athletes: “Obviously we all want to win, but we never determined our success by wins and losses,” Johnson said. “As I see our program continue to grow and our student-athletes continuing to be leaders, that’s success.”

Coach Johnson’s dedication to his players and commitment to their development both on and off the court make him a valued leader in the basketball community.
